NetCore, Oneindia.in tie up for SMS alerts in Indian languages

Looking at expanding its subscriber base to include regional language users, MyToday Dailies, the SMS service that provides information in the form of alerts, is extending its SMS service to five Indian languages.

NetCore Solutions, the company that runs the SMS service, has entered into a tie-up with OneIndia.in for the Indian language content. OneIndia.in is a news, entertainment and lifestyle portal available in five Indian languages, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. Under the tie-up, OneIndia.in will provide local language content to MyToday Dailies subscribers.

Speaking to agencyfaqs! on venturing into the regional language space, Abhijit Saxena, chief executive officer, NetCore Solutions, says, "Language is a big space. We have created media on mobile (with the MyToday Dailies service), which will now have regional content apart from English and Hindi. There are many local language channels on television which are viewed as much as Hindi and English language channels. So, it was a no-brainer for us to get into the local language content space."

MyToday Dailies claims to have a subscriber base of three million users who get information, such as news and jokes, from its 25 channels. MyToday Dailies recently added two new channels providing daily alerts about select Hindi and English movies being broadcast on television.

MyToday Dailies is a free SMS service that runs on an ad based business model. The SMS alerts service has a text ad at the end of each text message.
